Kodiak Imports was founded in
2004 due to the relationship between two families, namely
myself and my very good friends from Mexico. Quite a few years
ago my friends and I had made an ocean passage of a lifetime,
together we sailed an ocean going yacht southward towards
Central Mexico, facing December storms and other unfavorable
conditions. The relationship and team spirit that was created
during this trip has grown into an unshakable friendship.
For years our families have enjoyed a very unique bond and
reliving the tales of our long ocean passages over the many
years.
When the family began to manufacture Rum in Veracruz (Southern
Mexico), where Rum came from originally, it was only natural
that their "Gringo" friend would agree to becoming
the liaison between Mexico and the United States to import
the finest Rum to tease anybody's pallet. Kodiak Imports was
founded and the arduous journey of Federal, State and Local
filings and permits in the U.S. began.
Many hurdles had to be overcome, becoming an Importer/wholesaler
of distilled products and Wines is no easy task. However,
every Government and State agency that I have dealt with (and
will further deal with in the future) has been more than supportive
in the forward motion of Kodiak Imports, LLC. So many people
are involved and we have created many jobs in the United States
as well as in Mexico. It was truly an incredible journey and
without referring to monetary values I will always consider
this as "my most profitable venture to date".
The crew at Kodiak Imports wishes that when the wind eases
